Your afternoon
program is visiting Doka, a hamlet about 18 km south east of Maumere
locally known for it’s fertile land and rich in exotic tropical plants and
fruits. You will be entertained with dances and folk songs accompanied with
local dishes and drinks. There is chance for you to comprehend more about Ikat
Weaving - the well-known tie-dyeing weaving technique. The ikat are both as
cultural and economical products since the women in the village earn their
living from selling the Ikat.
Day 02
MAUMERE - MONI
There are places
around the town worth to be visited, such as Maumere market, Wuring - the
fisherman village with houses built on stilts and Ledalero Museum.
Lunch will be provided en route. During the day you will experience the
dramatic change in both nature pattern and ethnicity. In the afternoon you will
find yourself in the Lio ethnic’s environment. Pay a call to their villages
(Lisedetu and Ranggase) and try to comprehend the local’s daily life of just
having closer look into their work of architectures.
Day 03 MONI - KELIMUTU - ENDE - RIUNG
It is worth to
experience the sunrise at Kelimutu - the three colored crater lakes. You will
begin your day early in the morning (start at abt 4.00 ‘clock). Once you arrive
in Kelimutu you will find yourself something like nowhere, incomparable with
known told stories - photos or even moving pictures you have seen before. After
admiring the nature wonder drive to ENDE you will pass ravines and villages.
There are chances photo stops, such as at Nduaria Fruit market. Arrive in ENDE
drive directly to Wolotopo - the coastal Lio ethnic’s village beautifully
located furnished with shrine and megalithic monuments. Lunch in ENDE.
Afternoon drive to Riung. En route stop at Penggajawa - the blue pebbles beach.
Day 04 RIUNG - BAJAWA
There is Nature Conservation
Park in Riung mainly to
protect the under water ecosystem. Take your chance to explore the small isles
off shore - known for the beautiful coral gardens with white sand beach. There
is an island with unspoiled mangrove forests inhabited by thousands of huge
fruit eating bats. Afternoon drive to Bajawa, en route visit some megalithic
village in Soa area.
Day 05 BAJAWA - RUTENG
Bajawa is located in
the heart of Ngadha ethnic civilization, which is known for the megalithic
cultures. There are traditional villages furnished with stone monuments,
ancestor worship shrines and Adat Houses. The hamlets are beautifully settled
in the volcanic mountainous area. The most beautiful ones are Wogo and Bena.
Visit those villages and then drive to Ruteng for lunch. It is another
beautiful driving day; you will pas the villages and rain forest. To stretch
your legs stop at Ranamese
Lake and trace the trail
in the cloud forest.
Day 06
RUTENG - LABUAN BAJO - RINCA
Ruteng is a small
town at the backbone of Flores and neighbor to the Nature
Conservation Park
- the home of Ngkiong - the endemic Flores
singing bird. Visit the Park early in the morning to attend the nature’s
concert of singing birds (if no rain and strong wind). There is also a newly
popped up volcano in the park. Take your chance to have a closer look into it.
En route to Labuan Bajo stop at Cara village in Cancar area to see the
unexposed world wonder - the Lingko - the spider web shaped rice fields. It is
probably the only such a rice field ever exists on earth. Arrive in Labuan Bajo
transfer to harbor and set sail to RINCA island. Upon arrival in Rinca, take a
trek to trace the dragons and the wildlife of the park. Lunch and Dinner on
board.
Early in the morning
sail to Komodo to take another chance to trace the dragons in the island. On
return to Labuan Bajo stop at Pantai Merah or Pink colored sand beach with
crustal clear water and beautiful coral garden with plenty of tropical coral
fishes. It is a good place to swim, sun bathing and snorkeling. Stay there
until afternoon. Return then to Labuan Bajo.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Day 08
LABUAN BAJO - NEXT DESTINATION
Morning free
program. Before check in for the flight, visit Batu Cermin - the cave with stalactite
and stalagmite.
